Rainforest

Rain forests are mainly moist and wet most of the time because there are inches or even more that fall every year. There are a few levels to rain forests the first level is the ground floor. It is the lowest level most animals live here. The second level is the understory. Animals that can climb or reach this level want to be safe from predators. The next and final level is the emergents, the level is pretty much birds only.
It rains about from 60-200 inches each year, while the other moisture comes from the coastal fog that lingers on the trees. The fog provides about 7-12 inches of rain each year. Temperate rainforests are a lot cooler than tropical rainforests, but the temperatures are still mild. They often have two distinct seasons: one long wet winter, and a short drier summer.

Abiotic factors

Temperate rainforests

Are wet, but not as rainy as tropical rainforests.
Tropical rainforests.
The average temperature in tropical rainforests ranges from 70 to 85° F. The environment is pretty wet in tropical rainforests, maintaining a high humidity of 77% to 88% year-round. The yearly rainfall ranges from 80 to 400 inches, and it can rain hard in tropical rainforests. It can downpour as much as 2 inches in an hour!
The Soil in a Rainforest
The soil of a tropical rainforest is only about 3-4 inches Thick clay is underneath the soil. Once damaged, the soil of a tropical rainforest takes many years to recover. Temperate rainforests have soil that is richer in nutrients, relatively young and less prone to damage.

Biotic factors
Insects- butterflies, beetle, ants,
Predatory mammals- jaguar,
Other mammal- monkey, ant eater, capybara,
Reptiles- anaconda, iguana, frog,
Fish- piranha,
Birds- toucan

Why is the rainforest important?
· Is a source for medications and food
· Supports the tribal people
· Supplies a large percentage of the worlds oxygen and removes carbon dioxide
· Provides a home to many plants and animals
· Helps keep the climate around the world
· Contains many species of animals and plants of the world

Threats of the rainforest
* All the trees in the rainforest are being cut down by humans.

* Most of the oxgen on the wrold come from trees In the rainforest, so if we lose the rainforest their won’t be enough oxgen for th e whole wrold.

* Animals are losing their homes because we are cutting down tress.
* The trees are cut down are used to build houses in the U.S.A.

Conservation Plan

To save the rainforest we can do a few things. Number one: recycle; if we recycle we won’t have to cut down so many trees. Number two: we can use green energy: with green energy we can cut down on CO2 ambitions. And the best solution I have come up with is paying countries not to cut down their rainforests.
The Earth is in trouble. But you can still save it! With a couple of small changes we can make a big deference. Please saving the rainforest shouldn’t be hard.
